2026 Workshop Schedule
Yoga Class with Abby Thomas
Saturday: 11:15 am-12:15 pm
Abby (she/her) is a queer farmer, yoga teacher and herbal student living in the Upper Valley. She has been teaching yoga for 3 years and has a passion for weaving fluid movement, breath and exploration into each class. She will be teaching an open-air, 60 minute Gentle Vinyasa Flow. Participants must supply their own yoga mat and any additional props that they prefer to use.
Mushroom Foraging with Kaya and Cedar
Saturday: 1:00-2:00 pm
Join Cedar and Kāya for a guided walk exploring the abundance of native edible plants. Together you’ll learn to identify common wild foods, discuss ethical harvesting practices, and discover ways to deepen your relationship with the living landscape.
Cedar’s path has been shaped by a lifelong dedication to living from the land. He studied herbalism with Arthur Haines through the Delta Institute of Natural History and bodywork at the Esalen Institute in California. He is the steward of Peregrine Farm, an off-grid permaculture homestead in Johnson, Vermont, where he continues to cultivate practical skills in self-reliance, ecological stewardship, and wild foods.
Kāya’s herbal education began in Downeast Maine, learning from Indigenous elders of the Passamaquoddy community. She later studied Western herbalism at Herb Pharm in Oregon and at EarthWalk School of Herbal Traditions in Maine, and went on to study Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Shiatsu School of Vermont. Her work seeks to bridge Eastern and Western approaches to plant medicine while honoring the wisdom traditions that have shaped both.
Together, Cedar and Kāya teach hands-on workshops in forest foraging, wild fermentation, timber framing, and homesteading basics, inspiring others to cultivate practical skills and meaningful relationships with the natural world.
Hands-On Seed Saving Demo
with Suzanne Long and Tim Sanford of Luna Bleu Farm
Saturday: 3:00-4:00 pm
Suzanne Long and Tim Sanford are long-time veggie farmers (Royalton, VT) and have grown seed for Fedco Seed Company. Learn how to process open-pollenated tomato seeds in this hands-on workshop. They will also discuss other garden plants with easy-to-save seeds!
Seeing Patterns: Shaping an Economy that Works for All of Us
Facilitated by Dru Roessle of WEAV
Saturday 4:15-5:00 pm
What if Vermont's economy was designed for all people and ecosystems to thrive? What if the purpose of our economy was not to increase the amount of things we can make and sell, but to ensure that each other has what we need to live well? What if instead of depleting Earth's finite resources, our economy was designed to nourish and restore the ecosystems we live with? What if the threads for this way of being were already being woven in Vermont? How would we weave them together? What patterns of economic life do we envision for our future? Join the Wellbeing Economy Alliance of Vermont for a hands-on collage and dialogue workshop to share about our experiences in relation to Vermont's current economy and our dreams for the future.
